The Perfume Swap-Shop Extravaganza

by Odette Toilette on January 3, 2011

Were you given a perfume or aftershave for Christmas that you despise? Perhaps it evokes David Hasslehoff on a bad day….  Or even worse, did you drop EXTREMELY heavy hints to a loved one about how much you’d love that bottle of Eau De Moi, only to tire of it on Boxing Day as the scent mingled with leftover turkey? Currently you have just a few options:

  • Hide it in shame
  • Wear it and suffer
  • Sell it on ebay
  • Use it as an insect repellant

But wait. There is another way: trade it in for one you love at The Perfume Swap-Shop Extravaganza. At this month’s Scratch+Sniff on January 25th in London, we’ll not only be taking an olfactory adventure as usual (this month it’s A Scented Journey Around the World), we’ll also be hosting a karmic exchange of scents. One person’s pain is another person’s pleasure, so to that end, bring along your unwanted puppy (sorry, perfume), peruse the other scents on offer, and leave with something you love. Or at least, that you actively choose for yourself. All price points welcome, this isn’t an elitist thing. However, do be aware that offerings such as:

  • Kerry Katona’s contribution to the celebrity perfume canon (see picturesque bottle below)
  • Impulse body spray
  • A half-used bottle of Avon Mesmerise circa 1994….

Is it perfume, or a landmine?

…may not find a home – and please note that this Odette Toilette doesn’t really want to set up a shelter for dribs and drabs of old scent. She simply doesn’t have the space.

So, do come along on the 25th of January at The Book Club, Shoreditch for a wonderful event, with the added bonus of shedding your unwanted Christmas present, and leaving with something altogether more suited to your tastes. Tickets are £12 and onsale here.
